History: Cough.
What are the findings? Multiple posterior rib fractures in different states of healing a very young patient (small humeral epiphysis)
What is the most likely diagnosis? Findings highly suspicious for non accidental trauma
How is it managed? Call the ER to make sure that the patient is managed appropriately (the child services team)
Case of the Week from 6/20/21
History: Sinus disease
What are the findings? Midline intraseptal heterogenenously enhancing soft tissue mass.
What is the differential diagnosis? Inflammatory polyp, Respiratory epithelioid adenomatoid hamartoma, inverted papilloma, or sinonasal adenocarcinoma.
Case of the Week from 6/13/21
History: Knee pain. Prior surgery
What was the most likely previous surgical intervention? ACL Repair.
What are the diagnoses? Recurrent ACL tear. Undersurface medial meniscus tear vs. postoperative changes. Posterior medial tibial plateau bone bruise. Large effusion.
Case of the Week from 6/6/21
History: Status post fall. Crying.
What is the diagnosis? (eye test!):Checkout the lower right corner of the film (Do you see it?) There is a subtle break in the distal clavicular cortex consistent with a fracture. Was ultimately seen better with a dedicated clavicular series. Tough one, huh!
