History: Anemia.
What kind of study is this? GI bleeding scan
What is the radiopharmaceutical? Tc99m labelled red blood cells.
What are the findings? Right abdominal lucency. ? overlying mass. No findings to suggest GI bleeding.
What would you recommend to do next? Recommend anatomic imaging/CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis. (This finding turned out to be a large cystic ovarian neoplasm!)
Case of the week from 2/21/2021
History: Tremors
What kind of study is this? DATscan
What is the radiopharmaceutical? Ioflupane 123I
What should you tell the referring physician? Normal study based on qualitative (symmetric homogeneous uptake at the caudate and putamen) and quantitative data (Greater than T score of -2.5). No findings to suggest Parkinsonian type syndrome.

History: Sinus disease
What are the findings? Erosive lytic lesion to the left of the clivus.
What is the differential for the main finding? Consider chondrosarcoma, myeloma, or metastases. Recommend MRI of the neck.
Case of the week from 2/7/2021
History: Interval onset of abdominal pain between the two scans. First scan from 2 weeks before.
What are the findings? Increased mural thrombus in the wall of the aorta. Distended bladder.
What are the most likely causes for the patient’s symptoms? Ruptured plaque with aortic intramural bleeding/mural thrombus. Distended bladder.
